To get started with this recipe, we have to first prepare a few components. You can cook jack’s panang curry using 6 ingredients and 7 steps. Here is how you can achieve that.

The ingredients needed to make Jack’s Panang Curry:
  1. Make ready x 13.66 oz cans Unsweetened Coconut Milk (Brand=Thai Kitchen)
  2. Get x 4 oz cans Panang Curry Paste (Brand=Maesti)
  3. Prepare x 10.58 oz can Stripped Bamboo Shoots (Brand=Asian Best)
  4. Take Sugar
  5. Prepare Hoisin Sauce
  6. Get Optional Items: Jasmine Rice, Preferred Vegetables and/or Meats

Chunks of beef are cooked until super tender, then added to a wonderful sauce made with coconut milk, red curry paste, fish sauce, sugar, Thai chiles, and Kaffir lime leaves. The panang curry wasn't thick, salty or sweet but very watery and bland. Same to be said about the pad Thai, just very bland. The crab rangoons while tasty were very tiny.

Instructions to make Jack’s Panang Curry:
  1. In a medium to large size pot; brown Panang Curry Paste on medium-high heat 3-5 mins.
  2. Add only the coconut cream to the Panang Curry Paste. Stir until well incorporated. Set Coconut liquid to the side.
  3. Once mixed well; add 12 Tbsps of Sugar and 3 Tbsps of Hoisin Sauce.
  4. Add the Coconut liquid and stir until well incorporated.
  5. Bring to a simmer, cover with lid and let simmer 45-60 mins.
  6. Add Bamboo Shoots and simmer 5-10 additional mins. - Pro Tip: add additional 3 Tbsps Hoisin Sauce to lower spice level.
  7. Enjoy topped over Rice, Meat and Veggies!

Same to be said about the pad Thai, just very bland. The crab rangoons while tasty were very tiny. It seems I'm still on the look out for my next Thai spot. The panang curry was lacking in the flavors of kaffir leaves and lemongrass. It really just tasted like a less spicy version of the red curry.
