The ingredients needed to make Dal bati churma:
  1. Get 75 Grams green mung daal
  2. Take 75 Grams chana dal
  3. Prepare 25 grams (red lentils) masoor daal
  4. Make ready 50 Grams tuvar daal
  5. Take 25 grams yellow moong daal or urad daal
  6. Prepare 20 Garlic cloves
  7. Take 2 Green chillies
  8. Get 2 teaspoons turmeric powder
  9. Take 2 teaspoons salt
  10. Take 1 Teaspoon ajwain carrom seeds
  11. Make ready 3-4 Teaspoons oil
  12. Prepare 100 grams wheat flour
  13. Make ready 1/2 Teaspoon asoefotida
  14. Get 2 Strands fresh coriander leaves
  15. Take For serving-
  16. Get 2 Onion sliced
  17. Prepare 4-5 Teaspoons desi ghee
  18. Make ready 1 Radish sliced
  19. Take as required Green chilli pickle

The spicy dal with the sweet churma along with deep fried crunchy batis, its such a treat. Few weeks when I was googling saw a dal bati churma picture. Dal baati is an Indian dish of dal (lentils) and baati (hard wheat rolls). It is popular in Rajasthan, Maharashtra's Khandesh and Vidarbha region, Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh.

Steps to make Dal bati churma:
  1. Firstly wash and soak all the dals together for minimum 40 minutes.
  2. Meanwhile, knead A little tight wheat flour dough by adding carrom seeds and salt.
  3. Now make round balls of equal size and keep for roasting on rural stove chulah or baati making box on the gas stove as shown in the pic below on lowest flame.
  4. Cover this box and let the balls cook. Keep turning the sides of the balls after every few minutes for even and proper cooking.
  5. Now take A deep thick vessel put the soaked daals and 3-4 glasses of water and start cooking daal on high flame. Traditionally pressure cooker is not used. Let it cook for 20- 25 minutes until all lentils are cooked well.
  6. Meanwhile, keep checking the balls / baati. It wl take 25-30 minutes for the balls to be cooked properly. Now take a pan for tadka. Put oil add asafoetida, red chilli powder, turmeric powder and smashed garlic cloves. Cook for few seconds on low flame and then put it in the cooked daal and mix well. Now put the daal again on low flame and let it simmer for few minutes so that the spices blend well.
  7. Serve hot with ghee sliced, onions, radish, lemon, green chilli pickle and spicy garlic chutney (optional).
